Before anyone starts trolling about this shit, I'd like to state I'm basing this off the FMA wiki.
QuoteIn order to obtain or create something, something of equal value must be lost or destroyed.
Alchemy is the science/mystical art of manipulating and altering matter by using natural energy. This act is known as "Transmutation" and its sequence is usually described as:

  • Comprehension - Understanding the inherent structure and properties of the atomic or molecular makeup of a particular material to be transmuted, including the flow and balance of potential and kinetic energy within.
  • Deconstruction - Using energy to break down the physical structure of the identified material into a more malleable state so as to be easily reshaped into a new form.
  • Reconstruction - Continuing the flow of energy so as to reform the material into a new shape.
The proper application of this craft requires not only a full understanding of chemistry and ancient alchemical theory, but also a sort of natural talent towards recognizing and manipulating the physical objects with energy, which require uncommon levels of intelligence and aptitude. Those remarkable individuals capable of studying and practicing alchemy are known as "Alchemists".
There are many paths by which alchemists can transmute the various substances of the world, with some alchemists being said to transmute by way of the Four Classical Elements (Water, Earth, Fire and Air) and some by way of the Three Essential Principles (salt, sulfur and mercury), but the basic tenet at the very foundation of all alchemy is that of Equivalent Exchange.
So yes, alchemy is a crafting element, however its alot more complex than of what some think of it today,
It isn't the type of Alchemy on WOW (World of Warcaft), it's MUCH more complex, however due to the era we're in in-characterly, Alchemists can't rip asspull nuclear weapons, as they would need both the matierals and the knowledge of how these work,

(This is a Transmutation Circle, not neccessary for all kinds of Alchemy but essential for complex recipes.)
There's a common "law" and priniciple amoung Alchemists, in order to obtain or create something, something of equal value must be lost or destroyed, such as, in a the most basic method, one gram of dust for one gram of sulphur, or if you don't have the matierals avaible, 1 drop of blood for one 1 drop of powder. Wheither by choice or not. And to actually commence this you need a Transmutation Circle,
These appear something like this (Note: Transmutation Circles are not neccessary for basic recipes like ex: Transmuting powder.)
They vary depending on the project, anyway to explain how exactly Alchemy works lets put down like a "recipe" for Transmuting...lets say a basic, healing fluid.
1. 1 Gram of Blackpowder. (Blackpowder is used in many medications throughout the centuries, so it can be used to create a basic healing potion.)
2. Any liquid, I'd suggest water if you want a 99% safe drug.
3. 1 Vial full of water.
If you don't have much Blackpowder on you but you need a heavy supply of said "healing potion" then you can use pure oxygen by trapping the air into the vial, there are other tricks for creating high amouts of needed matieral with supposed, "little" resources on you.
4. A "basic" transmutation circle, (Intended to show the connection between the Blackpowder and the liquid.)
5. Basic Knowledge of using Alchemey.
This is a very basic recipe on Transmutating something, in truth Alchemy isn't all about simply making potions and items, it can also change the very properties of a pre-existing object, like a simple wooden stick, with the proper use of Alchemy, can be turned into a deadly steel spear. And a Master Alchemist can sometimes stand up against their cousin's in fiction, Mages. Alchemists can shift the locks of locked doors, or a Master Alchemist could shift a concrete wall open, however to do feats like this require almost a life-time of practicing Alchemy, the most basic mess-up could mean you loose an arm, or your life.

you could've just asked a mod to move your thread
Blake.H: And im also working on whipping him into shape
Blake.H: He's nice
Blake.H: He doesn't moan
